CDLR (Chain Driven Live Rollers) Selection Guide
Chain Driven Live Roller Conveyor
The Model CDLR16F and CDLR17F are roll to roll chain driven live roller conveyors. These CDLRs are a low cost, high load capacity powered conveyor suitable for many conveying applications such as:
- Pallet Loads
- Drums
- Containers
- Testing
Our two different models come with options in length, width, and type of section. Look through the guide below to learn the differences in each model and see if a CDLR is the best product for your application.
CDLR16F
Our 16F CDLR model is a chain driven live roller constructed from 7 ga. steel channel frame and 2-1/2"x11 ga. steel rollers on 5" centers. Abec 1 precision bearings are utilized for the two main drive rollers. Roll to roll chain can be linked and installed on the rollers before inserting them into the frame which is ideal when performing maintenance or replacing rollers. Drive and slave sections are available in 5' and 10' lengths allowing for customizable configurations and expansion.
Generally a drive will support slaves up to a total length of 50' with a maximum live load of 7,000 pounds. At 30' the maximum live load is 15,000 pounds and the per foot maximum is 800 pounds evenly distributed per foot using 5' support centers. The drive must be positioned near the center, otherwise capacity may be reduced. The conveyor must also be level.
CDLR17F
The Model CDLR17F chain driven live roller conveyor is constructed of an 8 ga. steel channel frame and 1.9"x9 ga. steel rollers on 4" centers. Each roller is positively driven. Each drive is powered by a 1 HP motor and operates at 30 FPM. Non-drive slave units can be added to provide a desired overall length. Capacity is affected by the total length of the system.
Generally a drive will support slaves up to a total length of 50' with a maximum live load of 7,000 pounds. At 30' the maximum live load is 15,000 pounds. The per foot maximum live load is 700 pounds using supports on 5' centers. The drive must be positioned near the center of the run, otherwise capacity will be reduced. The conveyor must also be level.
Motor
Each drive is powered by a 1 HP 230/460 VAC 3 phase motor that operates at 30 feet per minute. This motor comes standard as an invertor duty motor. The capacity of this motor allows for any combination of a drive and slaves up to 50' with the maximum live load being 7,000 pounds per drive at 50' in length.
Effective Width
Our Effective Width options are 27" and 51". The effective width refers to the distance from the edge of the chain guard to the inside edge of the frame on the opposite side. This is amount of usable width that is available on each conveyor.
Part of the rollers in each CLDR conveyor is fitted with sprockets where the chains are linked. This portion of the roller is covered with a guard for protection and unable to transport any product.
Supports
Our conveyors do not come with the supports. Supports come in different styles and heights. It is not recommended to put the CDLR conveyors directly on the ground as it will only be supported by the cross braces underneath the conveyor and not the frames of the conveyor. The recommended support model is our 4BH30, but low profile supports will work as well. The between frame dimension required in Effective Width plus 4". 5' support centers are recommended to get the highest capacity.
Safety
When using a powered conveyor in your facility, it is important to keep safety issues in mind. We encourage our customers to prevent pinch points that exist when power conveyors are placed adjacent to other conveyors or equipment. Pop-Out Brackets are used when placing a belt conveyor inline with another conveyor or an existing piece of equipment. The bracket and roller assembly allows the roller to "pop-out" if an object becomes entangled between it and the belt. See the images below for an example:
